Following her graduation cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2002, Ms. Alt began her legal career with the Colorado Public Defender's Office, where she served for nearly seven years. During her tenure in Pueblo and metro Denver, she handled thousands of criminal cases, from DUI to homicide. Her courtroom skill and dedication have resulted in not guilty verdicts in serious cases, including sexual assault, kidnapping, and first-degree homicide.
Beyond her litigation work, Ms. Alt has mentored and trained fellow attorneys in trial skills and legal strategy, sharing her experience to elevate the quality of criminal defense practice throughout Colorado.
In 2009, Ms. Alt relocated to Durango, CO, with her family and began a solo law practice specializing in criminal defense and family law. She also served the community as a guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of children involved in juvenile and family law proceedings.
In 2010, she joined the law firm of Greenberg and Herringer, which evolved into Greenberg, McGuinness, and Alt in 2013 and is now known as Durango Justice Advocates. Since then, Ms. Alt has continued to provide highly skilled representation across a wide spectrum of complex criminal cases.
